To pollinate by hand, farmers use a metal stick ending with a piece of cloth or cotton which they dip in a pot full of purchased pollen, they then rub the end of the stick to the pistils of the tree flowers.. The farmers from this village have been using hand-pollination for the past twenty years. The heavy use of pesticides wouldn't allow bees to survive and farmers have to do the bees work. Hand-pollination also increases productivity and allows cross pollination with the most popular varieties of fruits.
